What does a Folklory conversation feel like?

A Folklory conversation is like a chat with an old friend. Someone who wants to hear what you have to say, takes the time to listen and asks questions you might not have thought about before, all whilst making you feel at ease.

How do the conversations take place?

Remotely, either over the phone or on the computer. All conversations are audio only, we find that video-off helps to make the guest more comfortable.

How many people can be included in a conversation at a time?

We've found that the best and most meaningful conversations arise when it's just us and our guest. Our conversations are one-on-one, to ensure we create the most personal Folklory.

Who hosts the conversation?

Our Folklorists hail from many backgrounds related to storytelling, from journalists, documentarians to teachers.

You can trust them to know the balance between listening, asking and guiding. Most of all, they're humans too, they know how it feels to be heard.

Who schedules the conversations?

Our team will handle the scheduling directly with each guest. We will also keep you updated on the journey of your Folklory from its creation to its delivery.

Is any special equipment required to record?

No, all you need is a computer/phone, stable internet connection and a quiet space.

I'm not tech-savvy, will I be able to do this?

Absolutely!

If you're really unsure, after purchasing the Folklory, you can assign a “helper”. The "helper" can be anyone with an email address. Through them, we can coordinate all the scheduling and communications. This is a great way to get less tech-savvy folks set up with Folklory.

How is a Folklory delivered?

Your Folklory cassette speaker will be mailed to the address you provide, together with an email link to a personal webpage that contains your digital Folklory.

Folklories are shipped out within 14 days of the date of recording.

What if the Folklory is meant to be a surprise?

Brilliant! A Folklory is a wonderful surprise and we understand that discretion is required!
