A message from us
Hi there!
On behalf of our team, we want to thank you for trusting us to create this Folklory with you! We've recorded hundreds of Folklories and we've seen that not only will this be special for the listener, but you'll have a great time too.
All our interviewers have tons of podcasting and interviewing experience, and will do all they can to make you feel comfortable.
We really hope you enjoy your Folklory experience!

Some important information ahead of your recording
Topics of conversation
We’ll have some broad themes, but don’t worry about specific questions because we don’t have any! We’ll keep our conversation very casual because we’ve found that the best Folklories are created through authentic chats about memories that you already have. So there’ll be no need to prep! Just relax! We’ll guide you through the conversation and make sure you have a great time!
Recording the conversation
We'll record the podcast via our online studio (powered by Riverside.fm). We keep our recordings to audio only, so we won’t need you to turn on your camera (so don't think too much about you look).
Please use a laptop or desktop computer. Additionally, please use wired earphones or headphones, with a built-in mic (just like the ones you get with your phone).
A few other important things:
- If you have long hair, I'd suggest tying it up as it sometimes runs with the mic and creates disturbance
- Some earrings might create a jingling sound when you move, adding to the disturbance. I'd suggest removing them for the duration of our recording
- Find a quiet spot in the house, away from windows (to prevent noise from outside)
Day of the recording
Before we start recording, we’ll spend the first few minutes to walk you through the things we'll talk about. If there's anything you’d like us to focus on, this will the best time to do that!
During the recording
We will never share any part of the recording without permission from your friend or relative who set this up! So you have our assurance that we’ll make it as comfortable and safe as possible, because the best conversations happen when they are unfiltered, so talk absolutely freely.
And if you ever need to take a breather or a short break during the recording that’s fine too.
The best way to think about it is as a conversation with a friend over coffee or tea.
After the recording
Once we complete the recording, we’ll set aside a few minutes to answer any questions you have.
If all’s good, we’ll move into the editing phase. We’ll share a draft with your friend or relative who ordered the Folklory and incorporate any feedback into the final file to be delivered.
Who will I be speaking to?
You’ll be speaking to Haresh, Terence or one of our other professional Folklorists.
All our Folklorists have tons of podcasting and interviewing experience, and will do all they can to make you feel comfortable.
Do I need to prepare anything?
Nope! All we ask is that you find a quiet and comfortable spot, one that would be great for a chat with a friend. Because this will be more of a conversation than an interview
What happens if I say something wrong
If you feel strongly about removing something, just reach out to us and let us know. We’ll do our best do make it work!
How will we record the conversation?
We will use Riverside.fm, our online studio, to record the conversation. You can use either your computer or smartphone for the recording, but if you’re using you’re phone, you’ll need to download the Riverside.fm App (Apple app or Android app)
Either way, please do wear wired earphones or headphones with a built-in mic (like the ones that come free with a smartphone).
